It’s not too early to start planning for MLA 2025 in New Orleans. The 2025 presidential theme is Visibility. You may post calls for papers through 28 February.

The MLA will offer an array of professional development webinars in 2024, including two upcoming spring webinars, Ethical and Effective Mentoring and Career Versatility in Humanities Higher Education. Learn more and members can view a recording of previous webinars.

October 2023 PMLA

Read the Most Recent Issue of PMLA 

Visit Cambridge Core to read the October 2023 issue of PMLA, which includes a cluster of essays on Hernan Diaz’s novel Trust, an article on Deaf culture and Black testimony in antebellum America, and an archival find of a poem by Mariama Bâ.

Contribute to a New Book in Development

The MLA is accepting essay proposals until 1 March 2024 for the newest volume in development, Approaches to Teaching Dickens’s Great Expectations.

Last Call for Student Essays

Reminder: the MLA is accepting submissions of student essays for the 2024 edition of “Writing with MLA Style” until 2 February. Learn more about submission requirements.

Sit and Write Sessions

Members can join a community of writers for the MLA Sit and Write sessions, virtual writing retreats designed to support members at all stages of their careers. Brief presentations are followed by group discussions and an hour of quiet writing time.
